Attorney Advertising Policy

Effective date: 2 February 2025. Revised: 19 September 2026.

1. Purpose

This Policy ensures that every communication, publication and representation made by Basnet Law Pte. Ltd. (the "Firm") is accurate, professionally responsible and consistent with the standards that govern the Firm and its attorneys. The Firm applies the professional standards that bind its attorneys through their admission in the Kingdom of Bhutan under the Jabmi Act, internationally recognised standards of professional responsibility for lawyer advertising, and the general law applying in GMC, including the Spam Control Act 2007 for electronic marketing and the Personal Data Protection Act as applied in GMC, together with any rules on legal practice and advertising made by GMC.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to all content and communications issued by the Firm, including this website, online publications and Legal Insights articles, brochures, social media posts, email updates, event materials and public statements by the Firm's directors, attorneys and authorised staff.

3. Principles

Accuracy and integrity. All content must be truthful, accurate and free of misleading statements. The Firm does not make unverifiable claims, promise outcomes, or present information in a way that would create unreasonable expectations. Statements about experience and prior work are factual and put in context, without exaggeration.

No legal advice through publications. Content on the Firm's website and in its publications is general information. It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. Readers who need advice on their own situation should engage the Firm.

Professional restraint. The Firm does not solicit clients through unsolicited personal approaches, does not make comparative or self-laudatory claims about other lawyers or firms, and does not use testimonials or endorsements that cannot be verified. Descriptions of past matters are factual and are not presented as an indication of future results.

Accuracy about a new jurisdiction. GMC's laws are new, and fees, timelines and regulatory practice change. The Firm's publications distinguish what a statute provides from what has been announced or reported.

Marketing communications. Email updates are sent only to recipients who have asked for them or whom the Spam Control Act 2007 otherwise permits the Firm to contact, carry accurate sender information and a working unsubscribe mechanism, and personal data is handled as the Firm's Privacy Policy describes.

4. Disclaimers

Public-facing communications are to be read with the Firm's standard disclaimers, in particular that the information provided is general and does not constitute legal advice, and that results vary by matter and past outcomes do not guarantee future results.

5. Review and oversight

Advertising materials, public statements and online communications are reviewed and approved by a director of the Firm or designated compliance personnel before publication, to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with this Policy.

6. Updates

This Policy is reviewed periodically and will be revised when GMC's rules for the legal profession, regulatory guidance or professional standards develop.
