Tashi Phuntsho Dorji holds a PGDNL and an LLB from the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law (JSW Law). He is a lawyer at Basnet Law Pte. Ltd., the firm’s resident director under the Companies Act 2025 and its compliance officer, and he heads the firm’s office in the Gelephu Mindfulness City. His work covers foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, technology law and GMC advisory matters.
In GMC he has helped set up a virtual asset service provider and has advised on company incorporation and fund management under the Companies Act 2025 and the Financial Services Act 2025. His practice covers regulatory compliance research, contract review against the GMC and Bhutanese statutory frameworks, transactional advisory for corporate and cross-border clients, and support on arbitration matters for the firm’s clients.
Before joining the firm he interned with the Office of the Attorney General’s Criminal and Integrity Prosecution Division, the Royal Bhutan Police and the Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, where he worked on cases involving commercial fraud, narcotics trafficking, cryptocurrency-related offences and money laundering. That work included drafting charge sheets, case briefs and legal opinions, and a bilingual English and Dzongkha guide to court document drafting.
In international arbitration, he completed a virtual internship with the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre in Almaty, Kazakhstan, comparing the institutional rules of the AIFC Court, the ICC, SIAC and the LCIA and writing a report on their relevance to the Gelephu Mindfulness City. Through the JSW Law ADR Clinic he contributed to the drafting of mediation rules for the Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre.
He combines prosecutorial and dispute-resolution training with corporate and regulatory advisory work, and advises clients on transactional and dispute matters in GMC and Bhutan.
